Unit 9 Project

I Introduction:
Why is it important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically? What areas do you need to develop to achieve the goals you have for yourself?
It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually, and physically to achieve health, happiness, and wholeness. According to Dacher on page 3:
Integral Health is self-generated and self-cultivated, that leads to a comprehensive, holistic, and far-reaching healing of body, mind, and spirit and that is immune to life’s adversities, including disease, aging, and death.
Authentic Happiness that arises from within and is expansive, robust, passionate, and unaffected by the circumstances of daily life.
Genuine Wholeness that experiences the interconnection of all life, a seamless existence and an uninterrupted oneness that is accompanied by ease, universal loving-kindness, and a lightness of being.
The areas that I need to develop to achieve the goals that I have for myself is to get more spiritual and physical. I do not attend church and I know that I need to get back to the point where I do. I believe in God, but I just do not attend. I used to be physically active all the time and then life got in the way and I stopped doing what I really enjoyed. I need to focus on getting more physically fit.
II Assessment:
How have you assessed your health in each domain? How do you score your wellness spiritually, physically, and psychologically?
I have assessed my health in each domain by the practices and exercises that we have done in this course. My wellness spiritually needs a lot of work. I believe in God, but I have not attended church in years and I do not pray like I should. My wellness physically needs improvement. I used to work out all the time, but life got in the way and I just stopped. I know that if I make it a point to set aside time to get back into it I would feel a great deal better about myself. My wellness psychologically I feel is pretty good. I do not let things bother me too much and I don’t usually stress out over things. I take things one day at a time and that is all you can really do.
III Goal development:
List at least one goal you have for yourself in each area, Physical, Psychological (mental health) and Spiritual.
My Physical Goal is to start exercising again and walking on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes per day.
My Psychological Goal is to start meditation practices or just relaxing for 15-20 minutes per day to clear my mind.
My Spiritual Goal is to try to attend church a few times per month and start reading the Bible or some other form of it.
IV Practices for personal health:
What strategies can you implement to foster growth in each of the following domains; Physical, Psychological, and Spiritual. Provide at least two examples of exercises or practices in each domain. Explain how you will implement each example.
The strategies that I can implement to foster growth in the physical domain is to start exercising again and walking on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes per day. I will set aside time in the morning by getting up when my husband leaves for work and getting my physical regime in before my day starts. By doing this, I will have no excuse for not doing it because it will be done first thing in the morning.
The strategies that I can implement to foster growth in the psychological domain is to start some sort of meditation practice and relaxing for 15-20 minutes per day. I feel that I can accomplish this goal by taking time for myself to just relax or taking a long, hot bath with candles.
The strategies that I can implement to foster growth in the spiritual domain is to start attending church and reading the Bible or other such material. I feel that I can do this by trying to attend church a few times per month and reading my Women’s Devotional Bible. I could even implement this book into my psychological domain while relaxing in the bathtub.
V Commitment:
How will you assess your progress or lack of progress in the next six months? What strategies can you use to assist in maintaining your long-term practices for health and wellness?
I will assess my progress or lack thereof through keeping a daily journal for the next six months or beyond. The strategies that I will use to assist in maintain my long-term practices for health and wellness is telling every one of my plans. By doing this, I feel that it will hold me accountable for my actions.
